10 April Fools Pranks No One Will Expect

  • Pranks for All

April Fools’ Day is your yearly get-out-of-jail-free card to act impish without making people angry. Since your friends, family and coworkers will be on high-alert April 1, you’ll need to become a professional prankster to catch them off-guard. Lucky for you, we’ve put together a slideshow of original stunts that’ll stun ally and enemy alike. Read on, and then get your prank on!

  • Prank Your Coworker

Wait for a colleague to leave his desk, open up the Google homepage and click the “language tools” link to the right of the search bar. Scroll a third of the way down the page and change the interface language to Yiddish or even Klingon. Select the “Bork, bork, bork” setting and he’ll get semi-comprehensible gibberish that mimics the Swedish Chef on The Muppets. Other fun options include Pirate, Elmer Fudd and Hacker.

  • Prank Your Sibling

Have a bro or sis who uses Microsoft Word a lot? Open the program and click on “Autocorrect” under the “Tools” tab. Change the settings so that funny words like “bric-a-brack” or “collywobbles” appear when he or she types a common word, like “the” or “and.” You can also make it so that every time your sibling types his or her name, “Captain Cool Beans” or an equally embarrassing moniker comes up.

  • Prank Your BFF

Go into the contacts in your pal’s cell phone and change the name associated with your number to a TV character, celebrity or person from her past. Send her ridiculous texts from your phone — she’ll wonder how Mr. T became an entry and why he needs her to join the A-Team. If your friend knows your cell by heart, this may be a one-trick idea. If she doesn’t , you’re in for hours of fun.

  • Prank Your Parent

Download the “Krazy Kamera” app on your iPhone. Open it up and ask one of your parents to take a picture of you using your phone. The app will make the image turn and twist every time your ’rent tries to line up a shot, keeping them busy for a few hysterical minutes.

  • Prank Your Man

Scoop about an inch off the top of your man’s stick deodorant. Replace the layer with cream cheese, molding it to look like the original product. Watch as he swabs his underarms with a milk-based food product that’s sure to create a sour smell that’ll draw plenty of stares (and possibly insects).

  • Prank Your Boss

Paint over the tip of every pen and pencil at your head honcho’s desk with clear nail polish. Wait for his or her phone to ring or make a prank call and watch your boss struggle to find a useful utensil. If you’re feeling guilty afterwards (or concerned about your next paycheck), let the big cheese know that a swipe of nail polish remover will have him writing in no time.

  • Prank Your Roomie

Steal your roommate's coat from the closet. Sew the coat cuffs of each arm together so that she won’t be able to get her hands through when attempting to get the jacket on. Have a flatmate who lays her clothes out the night before? Sew closed not just the coat cuffs but also the leg holes of her undies and the foot openings of her jeans. It’ll trip her up in more ways than one.

  • Prank Your Kids

Here's a breakfast they’ll never forget. Stick a straw into a jelly donut and suck out the filling, gently pressing the donut to get most of the jelly out. Remove the first straw and insert another in the same spot. Put a squirt bottle up to the open end of the straw and squeeze the ketchup in, again using your hands to move the filling around if necessary. (If needed, turkey basters or syringes may be used in place of the first straw.)

  • Prank Your Neighbor

Obtain five or more life-size cardboard cutouts of celebrities from a novelty or party store. Place them in various spots on your neighbor’s lawn, facing the house. When they wake up and look out the window or go to grab the paper, they’ll find Betty Boop, Bruce Lee and Barack Obama peering in on them.
  • Prank Anyone

This is one of my favorite pranks: Order Chinese take out and sneak off with one of the fortune cookies. Use tweezers to remove the paper fortune and on a piece of similarly sized white paper write “Help, I’m trapped in a fortune cookie factory.” Place it back in the cookie. Covertly put the cookie on your dining companion’s plate and watch him or her freak out when they break it open and read the fortune.

Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted Houses

Reports that this reality TV house is haunted got us thinking about some other famous haunted houses in the United States. Have you visited any of them? Have any of them visited you?
Scroll down to read about:
Hull House in Chicago
LaLaurie House in New Orleans
Franklin Castle in Cleveland

Amityville House

Perhaps the most well-known haunted house of our spooky bunch, the story begins with the DeFeo family murders in 1974. Thirteen months later, the Lutz family moved in. They stayed only 28 days, and claimed they were terrorized by paranormal happenings. A book and popular movie followed, but there are still skeptics.

The White House

One of the most famous addresses in the country is reportedly haunted. Ghost sightings are common, especially those of Abraham Lincoln.

The Myrtles Plantation

Believed to be one of the most haunted places in America, this antebellum plantation in Louisiana was built in 1796 and is said to be home to more than 10 ghosts, including William Winter and a slave named Chloe.

The Whaley House

In 1960, this Old Town San Diego house was named an official Haunted House by the United States Commerce Department. There have been reports of at least four separate ghosts and a dog seen by multiple visitors.

Hull House

The haunted house stories, including the most famous - the devil baby—have sometimes overshadowed the work that this woman did for women inside its walls. She was the first American woman to win this prize. Today it’s a museum and a stop on the Haunted Chicago tours.

LaLaurie House

When Madame LaLaurie owned this New Orleans house, there were rumors of her mistreatment of slaves. When a fire broke out in 1834, the discovery of a torture chamber was more horrible than imagined. Hauntings have been reported ever since.

Congelier House

While this Pittsburgh mansion had a history of murder and gruesome crimes, it was the way the house was eventually destroyed in 1927 that was the most puzzling. Some report that it still appears out of thin air like a ghost house.

Winchester House

Sarah Winchester believed she was outwitting ghostly spirits by renovating her San Jose home for 38 years.  Now a tourist attraction, the home is filled with strange secret passageways and hidden rooms. Visitors still report apparitions and sightings.

Franklin Castle

Voices of crying children, a woman in black, the discovery of skeletons and the bones of dead children in its walls. It’s no wonder they call this Cleveland mansion the most haunted house in Ohio.  Read more about its most infamous owner.

Wonder Woman Struggles to Stay in Her Costume
It seems that evil adversaries aren't the only problem that the new star of Wonder Woman has to deal with.
If the latest pictures from the filming of the TV remake are anything to go by, actress Adrianne Palicki is not only fighting crime but also fighting to stay in her costume.
The 27-year-old was spotted on several occasions almost bursting out of her tight-fitting outfit as filming continued in Los Angeles this week.
Scroll down for video

And she had to hoist her top upwards to prevent a 'wardrobe malfunction' occurring with her red and gold corset.
Palicki's costume issues came to light shortly after the first pictures were released from the set of the show in Los Angeles.
The snaps showed Palicki - and her stunt double running down the street during the filming of an action sequence and at one point jumping over the roofs of cars.

The original version of Wonder Woman was one of the biggest small screen hits of the 1970s and made a star of Lynda Carter, who played the superheroine.
The character was known for having a wealth of superpowers, including superhuman strength, superhuman speed and extra-strong senses.
Adrianne - who is a relative unknown - beat several other higher-profile actresses to the part, including Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks. The new version will also feature Elizabeth Hurley as Wonder Woman's adversary Veronica Cale.

Hurley recently revealed she was part of the show by posting on Twitter when she first got the role: 'Thrilled to be doing the NBC pilot Wonder Woman'.
She added that she will be playing the lead character's nemesis saying: 'I'll be playing the evil villain. Can't wait'.
Palicki is better known in America for her role in the drama series Friday Night Lights, but has yet to make a household name for herself.

The new show is written by writer and producer David E. Kelley, who brought Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope and Boston Legal to our screens.
The plot is described as 'a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman - aka Diana Prince - is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
No broadcast date for the show has yet been given.
Shortly after Palicki was revealed to have the lead a photo of her appeared in the character's revamped costume, which ditched the 'big pants' worn by Lynda Carter in the 70s in favour of skin-tight PVC trousers.
However her outfit seems to have undergone some noticeable changes since the picture first surfaced earlier this month.
The photo featured the actress wearing a red and blue PVC catsuit complete with matching shiny blue boots.
But in the photos from the set the trousers are no longer rubber while her footwear is now red.
Reports suggest that the original outfit was not popular, with Hollywood Reporter blogger Borys Kit noting that fans had described the look as 'trashy'.
Other online commentators said the outfit looked 'cheap' and even suggested the combination of blue trousers and boots resembled 'footed pyjamas'.
Another added, 'she probably squeaks every time she moves'.
The costume also attracted some controversy for not featuring the patriotic American stars and stripes which featured on Carter's outfit.
Rival TV network Fox said; 'The new and allegedly improved Wonder Woman (a.k.a Diana Prince) has been given a head-to-toe makeover by artist Jim Lee, replacing her signature American flag decorated briefs with skintight…pants and purging the super hero of all her trappings of Americana.'
A spokesperson for the heroine’s creator, DC Comics, defended the new costume, telling the Fox : 'The latest evolution of Wonder Woman’s iconic costume is a central part of the latest comic book storyline.
'All of the classic symbols – patriotic (stars, eagle) and heroic (lasso, bracelets) – are ever-present.'

Wonder Woman Costume Gets an Upgrade

When "Wonder Woman" announced that Adrianne Palicki had been cast in the title role, buzz on the superhero show quickly shot through the roof. But then fans got a look at the ill-advised costume. Outrage quickly ensued. And hell hath no fury like a comic fan outraged.

The anger stemmed from Wonder Woman's shiny, rubber-like pants and high heels. It looked like a cheap version of a "sexy" Halloween costume. Fans cried out -- this is no way for a superhero, especially one of the most beloved of all time, to dress.

The blogosphere immediately went into cynical overdrive. Commenters on EW's article speculated that the show would be canceled in a matter of weeks. SlashFilm wrote that the outfit did little to inspire confidence in the show's prospects.

Apparently the producers of the show were listening. Some photos of the actress on the set have surfaced, and eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted the changes to Wonder Woman's threads. The shiny pants have been replaced by a more natural-looking fabric. Her footwear has gone through a transformation as well. The bright boots, which were once blue, are now red. And, even more important, no more high heels.

But even though some of Wonder Woman's outfit has changed, much of it remains the same. The red bustier is still intact as are her trademark tiara and lasso of truth. Time will tell if these modest changes to Wonder Woman's threads have a positive effect on the show when it premieres on NBC this fall.

Ms. Palicki is probably best known her work on the acclaimed TV series "Friday Night Lights." And though she isn't well known, fans seem to be pretty supportive of her taking up the tiara. That includes Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the beloved (and campy) TV show from way back when. Carter even liked the original outfit, saying: "What's not to like! Adrianne [Palicki] looks gorgeous."
