Anna Kournikova 'Biggest Loser'
Anna Kournikova 'Biggest Loser'. Report: Anna Kournikova to join "Biggest Loser" training staff. NBC's press preview for Tuesday night's "Biggest Loser" Season 11 finale hints at "a surprise announcement about Season 12."X17 Online is reporting that tennis star Anna Kournikova is joining the show's training staff next season and will effectively "replace" Jillian Michaels. The report says Anna will train contestants along with Bob Harper, Brett Hoebel and Cara Castronuova.

According to X17 Online: "Miss K will be one of three new judges; Cara Castronuova and Brett Hoebel have already been announced as part of the new team, as Jillian Michaels is leaving to focus on having a family."

"Judges?" That alone makes me doubt the validity of the report.

But if it is true, it's really disappointing to hear. I mean, can you say gimmick?

Nothing against Anna, but what the heck does she know about training people period, much less guiding obese people through an extreme weight-loss journey on a reality TV show?

She guest-"starred" on Season 10 of "The Biggest Loser," which basically amounted to her looking pretty and bouncing around a tennis court showing the awestruck contestants a few agility drills.

We already saw two newbie trainers -- one of whom, Brett, has really established himself in the training business over many years -- struggle to find their footing and their voice on the show. We heard contestants who chose Brett and Cara say they would have chosen Bob and Jillian if they could do it all over again, simply because Bob and Jill know "The Biggest Loser" culture and the nuances of succeeding in that unique environment.

Anna is a celebrity whose status extends beyond the fitness world, kind of like Jillian, and there's no doubt her addition will boost the show's ratings as it tries to find ways to keep things fresh in its 12th season.

Ratings do not equal a meaningful experience for the contestants, or for the show's loyal fans. And that's what concerns me.
