The Shaggy Dog Likes to Scooter Round Town

As shaggy dog stories go, the one about Norman the very bright Briard who is a wizz riding his scooter ranks high on the list.

The clever canine, who lives with the Cobb family in Canton, Georgia, competes in many obedience competitions and received his Companion Dog Title at just 15 months of age after four first place finishes.
But it's his razor scooter that has remained the pooch's passion since he was a mere pup when his owner, Karen Cobb, took him out for his first spin.

'He began playing with the kid's scooter in the backyard and we thought it would be fun to give him a ride on it,' says Karen. 'Then we decided to teach him to push it, and now he loves riding his scooter.'

His scooting antics have already made him popular on the Internet, and his Facebook page has quite a following.
Norman, now 20 months old, has even attracted the attention of television show host and comedian David Letterman and last month made an appearance on Stupid Pet Tricks on The Late Show.

Briards originate from France and their recognised talents include search and rescue, police work, military work, herding, watchdogging and guarding, but they also also make excellent companions, finding favour with Napoleon and Thomas Jefferson.

Brooke Vincent and Sacha Parkinson Dress up as Playboy Bunnies
Coronation Street stars Brooke Vincent and Sacha Parkinson made history as the street's first female gay couple.

And the gorgeous pair, who have dressed up as Playboy bunnies in a racy new photoshoot, are now insisting that they'll leave the soap if producers break up the characters.

Brooke declares: 'If they split us up, I’d leave. It’s made too much impact for them to break it up.

'It’s gone past the line. Me and Sach think we should win Best Partnership at the Soap Awards.'

The gal pals dressed up in blush pink satin Playboy bunny outfits, complete with bow ties, bunny ears and cotton tails for a provocative photoshoot and interview for Heat magazine.

Lounging against an ornate bar, the girls, both 18, giggle and whisper in each other's ears as they work the cameras.

Sacha has hinted that perhaps their close bond off camera is even becoming something more, adding: 'We just come as a pair now. We tell each other we love each other all the time. I think we’re really starting to become our characters.'

The girls have also revealed their celebrity 'girl crushes'.

Both agree that What's My Name star Rihanna is their favourite. They add: 'And Nicki Minaj. Definitely. We just love Nicki’s attitude.'

The also actresses say they feel a responsibility to fans who can relate to their onscreen relationship.

Brooke, who has played Sophie Webster on the long-running soap since she was just 11, says: 'It’s mad when you realise how many people have come out because of the storyline.

'So many people have come up to us and said, “Thank you. Without this, I wouldn’t have been able to come out to my parents or have people accept me.”

'There’s a pressure to make it 100 per cent believable. Because we’re not gay ourselves, it could be like watching someone in a film trying to put on an Irish accent and getting it totally wrong.'

Sacha, also 18, adds: 'You don’t realise it at the beginning, but when you’ve been doing it for a while – and especially now because of Twitter – you get so many people saying things about it.'

In the soap, the pair play former best friends who have fallen head over heels in love.

Christian teenager Sophie was seen succumbing to her feelings for Sian in an episode screened in April.

Vincent said at the time: 'Sacha and I were friends long before Corrie and I'm so glad it's her. We've been to drama school together and known each other since we were six or seven.

'We've talked about it, we're so close so we'll be all right. I've just told her as long as she sticks to her own side when it comes to the kissing scenes things will be fine. But no tongues.

'It will also let other teenage girls know they are not the only ones going through it if they are experiencing something similar.

'Often there aren't as many lesbian characters on TV compared to gay ones so it's a really positive thing for the soap.

Mumbai slum fire destroys home of Slumdog actor
MUMBAI: A fire in a Mumbai slum destroyed the one-room shack of “Slumdog Millionaire” child actress Rubina Ali, leaving her family homeless, Ali said.

The fire also swept through hundreds of tenements late on Friday near railway tracks where Ali continued to live even after gaining global recognition. Nobody was hurt in the fire.

Ali, who shot to international fame for her role in Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning 2008 film “Slumdog Millionaire”, said she lost most of her belongings including precious photographs taken during her trip to Los Angeles for the Oscar ceremony.

“We only have a few clothes left, we tried hard to salvage whatever we could before the fire spread. My pictures at the Oscars, all my memories, are all gone,” Ali said as the rest of the family huddled under one blanket.

Wisps of smoke rose from the slum as Ali and her family rummaged through the ashes, trying to salvage their possessions.

Ali was 8-years-old when she played the role of the young Latika in Boyle’s Oscar winning film, and her journey from the slum to the Oscar stage made international headlines.

Boyle had promised that he would provide both her and her co-star Azharuddin houses in Mumbai.

While Azharuddin moved into his new house in July 2009, Ali is due to move into an apartment within the next couple of months in Bandra, one of Mumbai’s most expensive suburbs, and home many Bollywood stars.

“We have found a flat for them and they will move in, in the next couple of months,” Neerja Mattoo, a member of the “Jai Ho” trust, set up to look after the children’s education and other needs said.

It looks like every little boy's dream idea of their perfect bedroom.
But this is in fact one extremely lucky six-year-old's very own pirate ship room, complete with rope bridge, crow's nest and a two-storey hidden slide.
This ultimate in cool sleeping quarters was created by designer Steve Kuhl, and also features a wrought-iron jail cell and hidden rope ladder access to the closet.

The bedroom was chosen by its owner in Minnesota from a selection of a space ship, racing car, castle and the pirate ship.
Mr Kuhl, who owns Kuhl Design Build, used two large planks to construct the hull of the ship before covering them with layers of plywood as the deck planking.
A mixture of plaster and epoxy resin was then used for the ship's hull.
There is also a spiral slide which is accessed through a hole at the top and comes out in a sports court on the bottom floor of the house.
No doubt the proud owner will not be short of friends.

Lady Gaga Arrives by Private Plane in Canada Wearing Another of Her Revealing Outfits
Lady Gaga Arrives by Private Plane in Canada Wearing Another of Her Revealing Outfits
Most people look travel-worn by the time they embark off of a long haul flight and would hate nothing more than having their photograph taken.
But not Lady Gaga - she got off of her private jet today in Canada and went straight into a photo shoot on the tarmac.
The camera-ready singer had just arrived in Toronto from Paris where she strutted the catwalk at a Thierry Mugler runway show.

Gaga did not disappoint in her latest ensemble which was a cross between a Flashdance costume and rocker chic ensemble.
The 24-year-old wore her favourite heel-less leather boots which did a great balancing act on.
She wore purple tights which showed off her black thong underwear underneath and matching purple gloves.
A black leather side-less top finished off her look.
Her new hairstyle, which she is forever changing is now a blonde do with a heavy black fringe.
Gaga strutted down the stair of the private plane as photographer Terry Richardson captured her walking from the jet to her tour bus.
She will be performing at the Air Canada Centre tonight as part of her Monster Ball tour.
Gaga had strutted down the catwalk earlier this week for the stylish Nicola Formichetti collection as creative director of Thierry Mugler at Paris Fashion Week.
Gaga had worn a predictably outrageous outfit for her Thierry Mugler show, wearing a sheer black dress and military-inspired hat while making her entrance in a cloud of cigarette smoke.
The Born This Way Star had worn long blonde pigtails to strut like a pro to her forthcoming new single Government Hooker for Formichetti, the man behind her infamous meat dress.
The singer also released the video for her new single Born This Way this week.
In the provocative and risqué new clip, which is set in outer space, Gaga is seen to give birth to an unknown being, strips off to her underwear for a dance routine and gets dressed up as a skeleton in a suit.

Tonight's episode welcomed back two favorite characters from last season: Shelley Long's DeDe Pritchett -- mom to Claire and Mitchell and ex-wife to Jay, and Cam's beloved alter ego Fizbo the Clown. Shelley Long plays the former Pritchett matriarch pretty perfect -- with a smidge of crazy, a dash passive aggressiveness, and a whole lot of acid-tongued wit. Her banter with Claire felt like real mother/daughter bickering, minus the unrelenting sexual undertones of course. DeDe did not arrive empty handed, however. She came toting a shaggy-haired, slightly rough-around-the-edges Matt Dillon as Claire's not-so-bright, limo-driving ex-boyfriend, Robbie. While Dillon didn't have a whole lot to do tonight, it was fun to see him pop up in this random role, and of course to see him make out with Shelley Long! The big question of the night was who was DeDe there to screw (metaphorically for her family, literally for Robbie I guess) – Claire, Mitchell or Jay.
They were all convinced she was after them – "It's not you it's me," they all said. Turns out it wasn't about any of them, she was after Gloria! Poor drugged-up Gloria. Who saw that tackle coming? Not me. But luckily, Phil was there to save the day, yelping, "I got Gloria, I got Gloria," as he rolled to her rescue. I always forget about Phil's crush on Gloria, but I love when it rears its awkward head.
Unfortunately we only had brief encounters with Fizbo, a shoe tease here, some leftover makeup there, but we did get to see Fizbo in his British incarnation as a court jester to go with the Princess theme of Lily's party ("me thinks a court jester is right as rain"). Here's to hoping we see Fizbo another day.
This episode was packed with so many smaller clever moments, here are some  honorable mentions:
-Luke trying to be "adorable" by talking in baby talk.
-Alex's aptly-timed cello notes as DeDe enters the house.
-Manny sipping his espresso and pushing to buy Lily a cashmere throw.
-Gloria's problem with answering machine beep.
-Matt Dillon's earring!
-Gloria's bear voice while recording the story for Lily.
-Mitchell to Cam: "Cue the gasp!"

Uncle Leo always had a hearty "hello!" for his nephew Jerry.

Len Lesser, the character actor who was most recognizable for popping up on Seinfeld, be it to shirk a gambling debt or get his eyebrows blown off, died Wednesday of complications from cancer-related pneumonia. He was 88.

His crack comic timing led to other roles as a cantankerous old-man type in Mad About You, Boy Meets World, Everybody Loves Raymond, ER and, most recently, Castle.

The New York City native's career got rolling, however, on shows like The Munsters, The Monkees and Get Smart, and he had small parts on the big screen, as well, in Papillon, Outlaw Josey Whales and Bird Man of Alcatraz.

Lesser, an Army vet who served in World War II, is survived by a son and a daughter, as well as three grandchildren.
