Wonder Woman Struggles to Stay in Her Costume
It seems that evil adversaries aren't the only problem that the new star of Wonder Woman has to deal with.
If the latest pictures from the filming of the TV remake are anything to go by, actress Adrianne Palicki is not only fighting crime but also fighting to stay in her costume.
The 27-year-old was spotted on several occasions almost bursting out of her tight-fitting outfit as filming continued in Los Angeles this week.
Scroll down for video

And she had to hoist her top upwards to prevent a 'wardrobe malfunction' occurring with her red and gold corset.
Palicki's costume issues came to light shortly after the first pictures were released from the set of the show in Los Angeles.
The snaps showed Palicki - and her stunt double running down the street during the filming of an action sequence and at one point jumping over the roofs of cars.

The original version of Wonder Woman was one of the biggest small screen hits of the 1970s and made a star of Lynda Carter, who played the superheroine.
The character was known for having a wealth of superpowers, including superhuman strength, superhuman speed and extra-strong senses.
Adrianne - who is a relative unknown - beat several other higher-profile actresses to the part, including Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks. The new version will also feature Elizabeth Hurley as Wonder Woman's adversary Veronica Cale.

Hurley recently revealed she was part of the show by posting on Twitter when she first got the role: 'Thrilled to be doing the NBC pilot Wonder Woman'.
She added that she will be playing the lead character's nemesis saying: 'I'll be playing the evil villain. Can't wait'.
Palicki is better known in America for her role in the drama series Friday Night Lights, but has yet to make a household name for herself.

The new show is written by writer and producer David E. Kelley, who brought Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope and Boston Legal to our screens.
The plot is described as 'a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman - aka Diana Prince - is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
No broadcast date for the show has yet been given.
Shortly after Palicki was revealed to have the lead a photo of her appeared in the character's revamped costume, which ditched the 'big pants' worn by Lynda Carter in the 70s in favour of skin-tight PVC trousers.
However her outfit seems to have undergone some noticeable changes since the picture first surfaced earlier this month.
The photo featured the actress wearing a red and blue PVC catsuit complete with matching shiny blue boots.
But in the photos from the set the trousers are no longer rubber while her footwear is now red.
Reports suggest that the original outfit was not popular, with Hollywood Reporter blogger Borys Kit noting that fans had described the look as 'trashy'.
Other online commentators said the outfit looked 'cheap' and even suggested the combination of blue trousers and boots resembled 'footed pyjamas'.
Another added, 'she probably squeaks every time she moves'.
The costume also attracted some controversy for not featuring the patriotic American stars and stripes which featured on Carter's outfit.
Rival TV network Fox said; 'The new and allegedly improved Wonder Woman (a.k.a Diana Prince) has been given a head-to-toe makeover by artist Jim Lee, replacing her signature American flag decorated briefs with skintight…pants and purging the super hero of all her trappings of Americana.'
A spokesperson for the heroine’s creator, DC Comics, defended the new costume, telling the Fox : 'The latest evolution of Wonder Woman’s iconic costume is a central part of the latest comic book storyline.
'All of the classic symbols – patriotic (stars, eagle) and heroic (lasso, bracelets) – are ever-present.'

Wonder Woman Costume Gets an Upgrade

When "Wonder Woman" announced that Adrianne Palicki had been cast in the title role, buzz on the superhero show quickly shot through the roof. But then fans got a look at the ill-advised costume. Outrage quickly ensued. And hell hath no fury like a comic fan outraged.

The anger stemmed from Wonder Woman's shiny, rubber-like pants and high heels. It looked like a cheap version of a "sexy" Halloween costume. Fans cried out -- this is no way for a superhero, especially one of the most beloved of all time, to dress.

The blogosphere immediately went into cynical overdrive. Commenters on EW's article speculated that the show would be canceled in a matter of weeks. SlashFilm wrote that the outfit did little to inspire confidence in the show's prospects.

Apparently the producers of the show were listening. Some photos of the actress on the set have surfaced, and eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted the changes to Wonder Woman's threads. The shiny pants have been replaced by a more natural-looking fabric. Her footwear has gone through a transformation as well. The bright boots, which were once blue, are now red. And, even more important, no more high heels.

But even though some of Wonder Woman's outfit has changed, much of it remains the same. The red bustier is still intact as are her trademark tiara and lasso of truth. Time will tell if these modest changes to Wonder Woman's threads have a positive effect on the show when it premieres on NBC this fall.

Ms. Palicki is probably best known her work on the acclaimed TV series "Friday Night Lights." And though she isn't well known, fans seem to be pretty supportive of her taking up the tiara. That includes Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the beloved (and campy) TV show from way back when. Carter even liked the original outfit, saying: "What's not to like! Adrianne [Palicki] looks gorgeous."

Simpsons episodes pulled over jokes

Simpsons episodes pulled over nuclear jokes

The nuclear disaster in Japan has moved at least one Canadian broadcaster to pull episodes of The Simpsons from its rotation.

OMNI Television spokeswoman Koreen Ott said the station, which airs reruns of The Simpsons at 6 p.m., has “pulled any nuclear episodes from The Simpsons” from the air.

“We’re reviewing our inventory for any further sensitive episodes.”

Ott could not say which episodes have been pulled, but added that the station was provided a list of questionable episodes from Fox, which airs The Simpsons in the United States.

OMNI Television is not alone. Television stations in Europe have also pulled nuclear-related episodes.

Austria’s ORF network has already pulled two episodes from its rotation: “Marge Gets a Job,” which features scientists Marie and Pierre Curie turning into zombies after being exposed to radiation; and “On a Clear Day I Can’t See My Sister,” in which jokes are made about a nuclear meltdown.

The Comedy Network said in an email it has no plans to schedule either of the two episodes listed above at this time.

The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told ew.com, he understands if some episodes of his show are pulled due to current real-life events in Japan.

“We have 480 episodes, and if there are a few that they don't want to air for awhile in light of the terrible thing going on, I completely understand that,” he said.

This isn’t the first time The Simpsons has been pulled because it made light of a real-life situation. A television station in Australia yanked an episode that was supposed to air this month because it made light of a tsunami.

Also, shortly after 9/11 an episode in which Homer goes to New York was pulled for awhile because it showed the World Trade Center.

Global TV, which also air reruns of the comedy, has not confirmed if it has pulled any episodes.

Meanwhile, English-language video of the pulled episodes are hard to come by online, but that shouldn’t stop you from finding the humour in this clip. (It might even add to it.)

Katie Couric May Leave CBS News
Katie Couric's days with CBS News may be drawing to a close, according to the LA Times.

Those familiar with the situation have said that Couric, the current anchor of the “CBS Evening News,” is contemplating a move into daytime television.

The Times reports that there has been widespread speculation, since the very beginning of Couric's tenure with the Evening News, that she was never entirely comfortable with the format.

Couric was signed to a 5 year contract, which expires in June of 2011, after a number of years with NBC's popular morning show, “Today.” In recent years, evening network news has declined in viewership across the spectrum of broadcasters.

The daytime television market will experience a void with the exit of The Oprah Winfrey Show later in the year. TV personalities such as Anderson Cooper have begun to vie for the chance to fill that void with new shows starting in the fall. Couric's hypothetical daytime show would not likely debut until the fall of 2012, according to the Times report.

 Rose McGowan plays a swinger
Rose McGowan On 'Law & Order: SVU' (VIDEO)
Rose McGowan is pretty good at this dangerous and sexy niche role.

The "Charmed" actress took her highly anticipated guest turn on "Law & Order: SVU" on Wednesday night, playing a sexy "bombshell" named Cassandra Davina. She's a regular at partner-swapping swingers parties, a seedy underground where detectives Benson and Stabler find themselves. For business purposes, of course.

Without giving away spoilers for the DVR set, McGowan finds herself in the middle of the action -- police, and swinging.

The actress spoke about the part in a recent press conference, giving some insight into her role. "Cassandra is a complex character and that’s what I liked about her," McGowan said. "She had a lot of different layers. She’s got her own plots going no matter what. I think she’s always thinking of a different angle."

Undoubtedly, McGowan hopes for a huge viewership for the show, though not from a stalker against whom she just recently won a restraining order.

American Idol does Motown

'American Idol' Top 11 Does Motown Proud -- So Who Deserves to Go Home?

Wednesday evening's "American Idol" may have exhibited the best all-around night of performances in the show's 10-year history. Although some contestants stood out, there truly was not a bad performance in the 11 offerings for "Motown Week." That said, one of them will be voted off the show -- unless the judges decide to use their one and only "Save" of the season, which, given the quality of performances, wouldn't be a terrible idea -- or would it?

The Top 11, all of whom seemed to be over the bout of viruses that had overtaken them the week before, took on the Motown sound with surprising results. Even Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery, whose country music roots show each week, were able to give the signature Motown sound a unique twist.

The most disappointing performance may have been Stefano Langone's somewhat over-the-top version of Lionel Richie's "Hello." Although sung well, he did not seem to have an emotional connection to the song -- and the judges noticed, calling him on it.

Thia Megia, the youngest performer still alive in Season 10, performed Martha and the Vandellas' "Heat Wave." Again, although sung well, there was a presentation problem. No matter what she sings, Megia unfortunately appears "pageanty" -- like she's some pageant performer offering her talent routine.

The standouts from the weeks before remained the standouts of Motown Week. Casey Abrams worked the audience with his controlled growl on Marvin Gaye's "Heard It Through The Grapevine." Jacob Lusk soared with Marvin Gaye's "You're All I Need to Get By," prompting judge Steven Tyler to rush the stage and hug the finalist (followed by Lusk's grandmother and half of the front row of the studio audience). Pia Toscano and James Durbin mesmerized (again) with Stevie Wonder songs and Lauren Alaina simply nailed The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hanging On."

Besides Naima Adedapo's Africanized version of the classic "Dancing In The Streets," Paul McDonald's version of The Miracles' "Tracks Of My Tears" was possibly the most unique, putting a folksy twist to the tune. But then there was Scotty McCreery's version of Stevie Wonder's "For Once In My Life," which was given a Glen Campbell-esque arrangement, something that Tyler picked up on. (An aside: Does McCreery at times resemble Alfred E. Newman, the iconic cover mascot for "Mad" magazine?).

Although it seems that none of the contestants really deserve to be eliminated this week -- a very rare occurrence (nay, something that has never occurred in the history of "American Idol"). Could this be the cue for the judges to use their "Save"? Still, given the show's penchant for using the Save and then eliminating two contestants the following week, that decision might cause problems with the "American Idol" live tour that showcases the Top 10. Of course, they could make an exception and take 11 contestants on the road...

The results show will build the Top 10 live on Thursday evening, March 24. Season 3 alum Jennifer Hudson returns to perform her latest single. Country hitmakers Sugarland will also perform.

Thia Megia

Thia Megia, Jacob Lusk praised on 'America Idol's Motown episode - which contestant will be eliminated?

Thia Megia heated up the "American Idol" stage on Wednesday, March 23, with her rendition of the 1963 fast-paced hit "(Love Is Like A) Heat Wave" as the remaining 11 contestants performed during "Motown Week."
Megia, 16, earned praise from the judges after appearing to bore them the previous week with her cover of the ballad "Colors of the Wind," from the soundtrack of Disney's "Pocahontas."

"It was great to see you let loose like that," judge Jennifer Lopez told Megia. "Who knew you had that in you? I didn't."

Meanwhile, Jacob Lusk, 23, earned a standing ovation for his rendition of the 1968 song "You're All I Need to Get By" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

Judge Steven Tyler rushed up on stage and hugged Lusk following his performance.

"I am honored, honored to be in your presence," Tyler said. "You make me cry when you sing."

Randy Jackson called it "the best performance on this entire stage on this entire history of the show."

Among the other highlights of the night - Pia Toscano's cover of "All In Love Is Fair" and James Durbin's performance of "Living For The City." Both songs are from Stevie Wonder.

The other remaining contestants are Lauren Alaina, Stefano Langone, Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald and Naima Adedapo.

Last week, Karen Rodriguez was eliminated from the hit FOX reality series. On Thursday, March 24, a contestant is expected to be voted off the show. Also, season Three finalist and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, as well as country music duo Sugarland, are scheduled to perform on stage.

The judges have the power to save from elimination a person deemed to have gotten the lowest number of votes. They can only exercise this option once, after a unanimous decision, and only until only five contestants remain in the competition. If a finalist is saved, the two contestants who receive the lowest number of votes will be axed on the following elimination episode.
